Hey folks,
December, the 13th, is getting closer and in this regard it's to shed some further light and details about the new single which will be released on our anniversary party.
One of the first ideas we had when we started planning our birthday show, was the writing, recording and releasing of a special birthday song! A song related to us, about 10 years of rocking, about our history, the band that is a family, about our spirit. And it had to be something special, like a hymn, epic! This mission was just cut out for our songwirter Don - a walk in the park!
Silver still remembers when Don was writing the lines, which are now embedded in "One For The Road", about to be released on December, the 13th:
"We were sitting in the bus, somewhere in the middle of the russian nowhere. I think we were returning from Dubna and we were barely hanging in there. Don was sitting there with his pen and his notebook, constantly grinning and chuckling like a madman. So, as I could not get some much needed sleep, those who read the diary know why, I became curious as to what the hell he was writing into that damn notebook. It were lines about us, about out touring, russia and our time together. And he said 'that's gonna be the anniversary song, check this out, that's the melody, it's gonna be a hit' - and started singing"
And he was right! A hit called "One For The Road". Almost as catchy as a pop song. But just almost! Because our producer Guido Lucas took care that the song would sound "dirty", to use his words, enough.
"One For The Road", the A-Side of our new single also includes a nice little "Hustler" Choir. Special Thanks go out to Franzi, David, Stephan und Gitz-O-War!
And you can listen to it online as of today!

So that's all about the A-Side of that 7" vinyl single. Let's talk about the B-Side:
We all were thinking a lot about what to do with the B-Side and it was a hard choice. Should we use some outtakes from the "Singapore Sling" sessions? Or should we do a cover song? Or a new completely new one?
And then it was fortune that helped us out. We met Martin Degville and his Sigue Sigue Sputnik in October on a show in Halle. We got along great straight from the start and decided on the same evening to ask our new friends if they would honour us on our birthday show by being the opening act. They immediately agreed And then Martin said that he wants to sing "I Fought the Law", originally by Sonny Curtis, made popular by The Clash, together with us on stage.
A few days later in the rehearsal room, we had the idea that when Martin wants to sing that song with us on stage, we could also make it the B-Side of our single. And it was quickly decided that he had to come over to sing and record the lyrics with Don in the studio.
Yes people, sometimes it's that easy! Martin came, sung and the first duet in Bettie Ford history was born.
So, to cut a long story short, here it is, our 10th anniversary 500 pcs. limited edition single:
